A premium, contemporary and emblematic drink, Martell was founded by Jean Martell in 1715, making it the oldest of the major cognac houses. On the request of a customer for something extraordinary, a totally superior quality, the very best, Jean Martell set off to create a new cognac of unique quality for the connoisseur; resulting in a cognac that has since become the symbol of the French ‘art de vivre’. In 1874, Martell VSOP was created.
It is known the world over that once you get a taste for quality; there is no going back; only forward. For nearly three centuries, Martell has preserved the integrity and reputation of all cognacs that bear its name, remaining loyal to the inspiring and independent spirit of its founder. Smooth and mellow, Martell VSOP – a classic, dense and rich cognac – is the result of special blends using the finest eaux-de-vie from the Borderies and employing the specific Martell method of double distillation with the use of fine grained ‘Troncais type’ oak wood for ageing.
